After five years of planning and working with engineering firms, regulatory agencies, and the Village of
Delanson, the required site plan and subdivision approvals, along with a full building permit, have been
received, finally allowing the DACC to proceed with construction. The formal approvals obtained from
Schenectady County and the Village on January 10, 2007, cleared the way for the Romanski family to
donate 9.1 acres of land, near the intersections of Route 395 and Cole Road, to the community center
thereby creating a beautiful site along the Normanskill Creek for the new 26,000 square foot facility.
Approximately 3 acres of land is also in the process of being donated by the Romanski's
to the Village for expansion of the public infrastructure - 1,000 feet of new public road, 2,000 feet of water main,
850 feet of sewer main, and approximately 1,000 feet of lighted sidewalks.
Construction Financing Plan Established - 90% Achieved, Only $500k to Raise!
Inclusive of the infrastructure costs cited above, land value, engineering costs, new building and parking area,
this community center construction project represents a $5 million investment into the Village of Delanson.
With a number of state grants, legislative support, private donations, and limited amount of bank financing,
the community center has firmed up a $4.5 million package, leaving only $500,000 for the final fund raising task.
The DACC is actively organizing the public portion of its Capital Campaign to raise this final 10%, or $500,000,
through private donations, and welcomes assistance from anyone interested. This portion of the campaign will
leverage radio and television public service announcements to ensure outreach to all neighboring communities,
and also our friends and supporters throughout the Capital Region.
